Empowering Future Entrepreneurs: DBSL’s Digital Commerce Workshop at As-Sunnah Skill Development Institute

At Dot BD Solutions Limited (DBSL), we believe that technology should be a bridge to opportunity, not a barrier. Recently, we had the profound honor of conducting a hands-on seminar on Digital Commerce & Business Automation at the As-Sunnah Skill Development Institute in Dhaka, an incredible initiative run by the As-Sunnah Foundation to equip individuals with practical, job-ready skills.

The goal of our workshop aligned perfectly with the Institute's mission: to take theoretical business concepts and turn them into actionable, digital reality. We set out to show the participants that building a professional e-commerce platform and becoming an entrepreneur is entirely within their reach, without needing a massive budget or prior coding experience.

Turning Skills into Digital Storefronts

The As-Sunnah Skill Development Institute offers diverse training, from Small Business Management to Fashion Design and Culinary Arts. Our workshop focused on the crucial next step: How do you take these new skills and sell them to the world?

Using Odoo’s ERP ecosystem, we guided participants through a completely free, hands-on process to digitize their business ideas.

Key Takeaways from the Hands-On Session

1. Building an E-Commerce Site in Minutes

We demonstrated how AI and modern web builders can generate a fully functional website in under 15 minutes. Participants learned how to select business objectives, apply themes, and use drag-and-drop tools to create professional landing pages featuring their own branding and team profiles.

2. Managing Products and Inventory

A storefront needs products. We walked the participants through the backend processes of managing an online store, including:

  • Adding products (like custom clothing or food items) and defining retail vs. cost prices.

  • Writing compelling, SEO-friendly product descriptions that drive sales.

  • Structuring categories to make navigating the store effortless for customers.

3. Mastering the Sales Lifecycle

It isn’t just about looking good; the site needs to function as a business. We simulated the entire customer journey:

  • Order Processing: From a customer clicking "Add to Cart" to backend order confirmation.

  • Invoicing: Generating professional invoices, including handling down payments.

  • Cash on Delivery (COD): Configuring local payment methods, which is essential for the Bangladeshi e-commerce landscape.

4. Marketing & Growth Tracking

To ensure these new entrepreneurs can scale, we covered how to inject Meta (Facebook) Pixel and Google Analytics codes into their websites. This allows them to track customer behavior and run targeted marketing campaigns effectively.

A Future Built on Automation

The highlight of the seminar was watching participants scan QR codes to place test orders on the very websites they had just built. It was a tangible realization of their potential. As one of our instructors noted, understanding how to build these sites isn't just for selling personal goods—it's a marketable skill in itself. Participants can now offer website-building services to local businesses, creating an immediate stream of income.

We are incredibly grateful to the As-Sunnah Foundation and the As-Sunnah Skill Development Institute for hosting us. By combining their practical skills training with our expertise in business automation, we are helping to build a more empowered and self-reliant generation of entrepreneurs in Dhaka and beyond.
